This year, a select group of students at James Ward had the amazing opportunity to take a ceramics arts elective. They met with me once a week to work solely with clay. Here is a snapshot of what the students created this year!

Check out these beautiful pinch pots completed by room 103 and 105. Students learned about the basics of ceramics by using a "pinch and twist" technique to make a simple cup. After student's work was placed in the kiln and fired, they were given the opportunity to glaze their work. Here are the amazing results!
3rd graders love cave art and so do I! As you can see from all the lovely artwork below, students were able to create some beautiful cave drawings using chalk pastel along with some cave etchings into ceramic clay.
First grade students created these adorable mixed media pieces of artwork using air dry clay, popsicle sticks, and tissue paper. Here are some examples of the cutest things I've seen all year!
Students in 5th grade created ceramic pieces that utilized the technique of 'slip and score' to attach pieces together. |
