First grade color mixing Students began this project by learning how to make secondary colors using only primary colors. Students drew six different size rectangles to create their own color wheel. Given red, yellow, and blue, students painted the primary colors and then mixed the secondary colors to paint in the purple, green, and orange rectangles. Once dry, students cut out their rectangles to use as buildings in a city collage. Students were encouraged to use their imagination while creating their cities by adding as many details as they could think of.
