As one of their most intensive projects during their time with me as students, 8th graders design and complete a miniature museum that highlights an artist or artistic period. Each student individually creates two re-creation pieces on real canvas. They then work as teams using mathematics to create a blueprint for fitting the artworks in their buildings. This year's museums are truly spectacular.
Students explored drawing, painting, and collage in these colorful cities! We discussed how shape can help us create realistic images. Kindergarten focused on the rainbow and first graders got to explore color mixing!
Students created and identified foreground, middle ground, and background in these perspective landscape paintings as a culminating project for their perspective studies.
Third graders practiced adding value(shading) in their art to help show dimension. You can see the amazing results here in these beautiful pumpkins!
These gorgeous works of art were completed in three class periods. The first day, students painted the sky by mixing blue and white directly onto their papers. On day two, students added grass texture using a fork as their paintbrush! On the final day, students used cotton balls to paint their flowers. I just love how unique each of these young artists made their work!
Preschool flower paintings! Preschoolers were given the prompt to paint a picture of spring! They were encouraged to include flowers in their paintings. Here are the beautiful results!
First graders spent first quarter learning all about lines! They discussed line quality and how there are many different ways to draw a line. Their final project involved drawing themselves with crazy hair made out of all the lines we had discussed throughout the quarter.
For a fun end of the year project, students in first grade were shown how to draw a bird house and were then able to paint it using fun neon colors.
