Third graders broke into small groups to complete a design challenge using a set amount of materials. Every group was given 10 straws and a roll of tape to create anything they could think of. They could also use scissors to cut the straws if they wanted. Here are the amazing results....look how different they all are!

Third graders spent the beginning of the year learning about some of the oldest artwork known to mankind, cave art! They participated in individual as well as group paintings and created their own cave art carving out of clay!
3rd graders love cave art and so do I! As you can see from all the lovely artwork below, students were able to create some beautiful cave drawings using chalk pastel along with some cave etchings into ceramic clay.
Wow are these landscapes that the third graders made just beautiful! Students started with a pencil drawing on black paper and then used Elmer's bottle glue to draw over their lines. After the glue was dry, students applied chalk pastel and explored the technique of mixing and overlapping colors.
Third grade students worked together to create haunted houses using cardboard, tape, and glue! As you can see in the last photo, no two houses look alike!
