4th Graders explored the concept of culture by discussing what makes up someones identity. They created images to include in their jars to help demonstrate what makes up their individual culture.

4th Grade 4th graders finished their unit on Egyptian art by creating Egyptian bust drawings. Students started with a pencil drawing on black sulphite paper. Students were encouraged to draw big and use simple lines and shapes. They then traced their drawings using an elmer's glue bottle. Once dried, the students used chalk pastel to complete their artwork. Students practiced overlapping the chalk to create vibrant rich colors.
Students learned about artist Romare Bearden and discussed how he used images of different people to create one person. Students created portrait collages utilizing different magazine images to make a unique face.
4th Grade Fourth grade students completed their unit on paper sculpture by creating a radial origami design. They started by folding four pieces in the same color to create a rotating design and kept building onto their idea until they felt they had a complete piece of artwork.
4th Grade Students in 4th grade began a weaving unit by learning how to weave using paper. They used this knowledge to create a beautiful Kimono. Students started by printing stamps on white paper. They cut those painted papers into strips to create their 'string' for weaving. Each Kimono is created from two separate weaved papers and combined with a traditional obi sash in the middle.
4th GradeStudents in 4th grade first began weaving using paper. Their final project transferred that knowledge to weaving yarn through a loom. Here are the beautiful results!
Fourth and fifth grade students have been working hard at creating beautiful works of art for the Mexican Heritage Month assembly.
